8.5/10 is my rating. This is a 2019 South Korean drama with 32, 35 minute, episodes.
After Yeon-seo (Shin Hye-sun) is in an accident that leaves her blind, she has very little use for the world and everyone in it. Formerly a beautiful starring ballerina in the Fantasia Ballet Company, owned by her wealthy family, she now spends her days making it difficult for those around her. She is cynical, angry and so hostile few but her loyal secretary and butler can tolerate being around her for long. In stark contrast, Dan (Kim Myung-soo) is a trouble making angel who sees the good but is mischievous enough to cause trouble for his superiors. His last chance to return to heaven centers around finding love for Yeon-Seo whose great talent currently is driving everyone away. Who can see past the young woman’s bitter and surly exterior to the heart of a woman worthy of love?
Spoiler 🚨 A lot of this reminded me of “The Taming of the Shrew” with some “The Gift of the Magi” sprinkled in. She was very difficult and not very nice but had many reasons to be angry with life. I really enjoyed getting to know her character and the reasons behind her behavior and why some were so loyal to her It was predictable in the sense that you knew it was going to be very sad at some point. I really did not know how things would end up and was very concerned that it would not be a happy ending. It did officially get to a happy moment but it really was only just a moment and we spent a lot of episodes that made you very sad and feel a bit down in general.Still I would recommend this it is a very good story I just wish they had spent more time with the happy parts and had a little less cynicism. At the end there were a lot of loose pieces on how aspects would be explained.
