Review

My rating is 10/10. After watching over 300 dramas it can be pretty hard to impress me. But wow! Just wow! I loved this one. And I realize not everyone does or will but I really liked it. There are very few series recently where I start enjoying the story from episode 1 but this is one of those rare series. It was cute, fun, exciting and heart warming. It was also a slice of life into aspects of professional snowboarding. And it had a slice of life element of Chinese anime part perfectly. I read somewhere that some thought Esther Yu did not act the role well. I completely disagree. Esther Yu portrayed Wei Zhi exactly how I would have pictured a popular anime author. She dressed so cute through most of the series. But when she dressed more elegantly, she went from cute to elegant beauty. And she was so nice and sweet who wouldn't fall in love with her? And Lin Yi played the perfect cold, aloof professional athlete. Watching him absolutely melt for the main girl was very heart warming. I will definitely watch this again any time I need a pick me up. And I won't hesitate to recommend it to other lover's of romance. If you are looking for a deeply emotional drama with lots of twists and turns then this might not be the one for you. But if you a hopeless romantic like I am you won't want to miss this.

Spoilers

I usually dislike separations. But I totally understood on this one. If you have ever been on the receiving end of "you are not good enough" then you will get why he had to take a step back. Especially in their culture.

I loved the mini happy endings too. The sister got her legs and was back to it. I loved that 2nd guy gave up graciously and became friendly with main guy. The romance with main guy's sister and the younger snowboarder was cute. The only one that wasn't resolved well was with main girl's friend and the guy she had known for years without knowing it. She was brutal to him when she ghosted him. It seemed like she wanted to get fully together with him but we never saw the ending to their story. That wasn't enough to detract from this for me at all though.

I really love the friends like family trope. This group of friends were really fun to hang out with. It was a great addition to the story that they wrote in scenes with the friend group.

Synopsis

This is a 2025 Chinese Romantic Comedy Drama. It has 23, 45 minute episodes.

When Wei Zhi (Esther Yu) has her work stolen from her through a "slave contract" situation, she takes a break at Beishan Ski Resort to clear her head and start work on a new, independent project. To better understand the world of snowboarding for her next anime project, she decides to learn herself. Shan Chong (Lin Yi), a former National Team snowboarder and a legend in Chinese snowboarding, quit after an injury that frightened his family. A chance encounter earlier led Shan Chong to agree to coach Wei Zhi, something he had never done before. The expert snowboarder never took on those newly learning the sport, only super advanced students. As Wei Zhi struggles to gain minimal skills, her passion and determination to learn something that is so obviously not her forte, coupled with her drive to re-ignite her career cause Shan Chong to re-visit his own goal to win gold. As the two work together, more than just a passion for their profession ignites. Love blossoms in the cold winter landscape between two people unlikely to have ever met in their normal social circles. Can both achieve their career goals and find a lasting love with each other?
